Some of the funds that the Foundation has at its disposal may be awarded a 2-year grant (A) and larger grants (B).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Applications must be submitted via the Foundation\u2019s website <strong>by 4pm on the first Thursday in February at the latest<\/strong>. You can only submit one application. However, you can be both the main applicant and co-applicant in two separate applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Research grants are awarded to applicants at Lund University, Malm\u00f6 University, Linnaeus University, Kristianstad University, Halmstad University, Blekinge Institute of Technology and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">Funding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Approved costs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Running costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personnel costs for technical staff, post-doctoral or guest researchers from other universities\/countries, and partial funding of PhD position. Please note that a post-doctoral applicant must have defended their thesis at the start of the period of employment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning of larger project applications or research programmes with national\/international participants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arranging high-quality conferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conference trips with active participation, when they are part of a project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publication costs, when they are part of a project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research exchanges and research visits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Costs must be directly related to research activities within the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A supplement for overheads is permitted for personnel and running costs up to a maximum of 35%. Costs for premises are included in the supplement for overheads. Supplement for overheads may not be used for equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Equipment becomes the property of the receiving institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Costs may be counted from 1 June 2027 at the earliest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default\">Unapproved costs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicant\u2019s own salary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal computer and mobile phone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study trips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Festschrifts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching at basic and advanced level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">A. One-or two-year research grants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation awards grants of up to SEK 1 million per annum for 1 or 2 years, with the possibility to apply for an extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation may transfer applications for 2-year funding to 1-year funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Applications for 2-year funding must comply with the template for 1-year funding. In addition, the project Annex must include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>any pilot studies and preliminary results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planned collaboration, national and international<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>explanation of why the applicant and the applicant\u2019s environment are suitable for the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the application is for an extension of a previous application, the above instructions apply. However, such an application should include a presentation of the work that has been carried out within the project (max. 10,000 characters). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">B. Larger grants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A minor part of the awarded funding may be approved for larger grants, primarily for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Interdisciplinary projects that are of strategic significance <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An application for funding for equipment should include a project description that briefly outlines the sub-projects that will make use of the equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The following criteria must be fulfilled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There must be a sustainable, long-term plan for maintenance of the equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There must be service technicians, research engineers or the equivalent in the employment of the university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There must be premises that are suitable for the purpose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There must be a sufficient user base<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A university, faculty, institution or individual researcher may apply for the above. The application must specify an accountable principal applicant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">General information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For research projects, the Foundation gives priority to younger applicants up to 12 years after a completed PhD. If there are special grounds, such as documented sick leave, parental leave, holding a trade union role, service within total defence, or other service or assignment relevant to the subject area, an equivalent period of time can be subtracted from the time that has passed since completion of the PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation gives priority to applicants who have not previously been granted funding and who are in the process of building up their own research work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants can receive project funding for a maximum period of four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The above applies to principal applicants.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When assessing applications, emphasis is placed on scientific quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An additional important factor is the project\u2019s potential to promote the formation and development of a robust research environment at the university or college in question. The application must specify whether the project is included in or related to a larger project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main applicant must be an individual, with the exception of that stated in B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation does not grant funding for doctoral students nor emeriti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications not fulfilling the above requirements will not be considered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants are aware of and accept that, in case of grants being awarded, the Foundation publishes applicants\u2019 names on the Foundation\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Foundation presupposes that, when results are published, it must be clearly specified that funding has been received from the Foundation. The name of the Foundation is Crafoordska stiftelsen in Swedish and, in English, The Crafoord Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">Information on personal data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is how we manage your personal data \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crafoord.se\/en\/privacy-policy\/\">see our Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">Global Resonsible Engagement Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crafoord.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/SUHF-Checklist-Global-Responsible-Engagement-REC.-2023-4-230411-REVISED.pdf\">SUHF\u00b4s checklist for international collaborations.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-bg--block\">Application format in Swedish or English<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mandatory appendices, to be scanned in pdf-format, max 4 MB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <em>project Annex <\/em>(max 15,000 characters incl. spaces, or max 5 pages if the application includes images\/diagrams)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicant\u2019s <em>CV<\/em> (max 2 pages)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicant\u2019s <em>published papers<\/em> from the last 5 years (max 5 pages)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other <em>funding<\/em> (max 1 page)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The project Appendix should have a short introductory summary and should include<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>short background description<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>problem statement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>newsworthiness of the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>methods to be used<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expected results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planned publication of results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ethical considerations (if relevant for the project)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The CV should state:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>university degree (discipline\/subject area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PhD (year, discipline\/subject area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>relevant post-doctoral visits (year and location)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>docent level (year)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>current position, period of appointment, proportion of research involved in the position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>previous academic positions and appointments (specify type of employment)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>any parental leave etc<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tutoring experience in the area of graduate education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>total number (no lists!) of published papers (peer-reviewed original work as well as summaries\/book chapters and the equivalent)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>research grants received in the last 5 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>description of the principal applicant\u2019s role within their research environment and how the project contributes to their development as an independent researcher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Other funding must indicate whether the applicant (or group to which the applicant belongs) has other funding at their disposal.
