In 1980, Holger Crafoord donated SEK 3 million to a foundation whose aim is to:

without a view to making a profit for a given individual person or organization, promote scientific training and research and also the care, upbringing and education of children and young people. Moreover, but only insofar as not to contravene the main purposes of the Foundation as specified above, the Foundation may also promote charitable, social, artistic, sporting or other purposes of public benefit...

The 2012 deadline for applications has passed. The next deadline for applications will be in February 2013. The form will be available as from December.

The Foundation also supports the following purposes of public benefit: provision of assistance for humanitarian/social reasons or to the disabled, sport, cultural or artistic activities or studies/education and the upbringing of children and young people.

Applications for grants for purposes other than the main purposes of the Foundation shall be submitted at the beginning of September. Notice as to who has received grants will be given in December.

In 2010, the Crafoord Foundation received about 600 applications and the Foundation distributed approximately SEK 2.9 million for the care, upbringing and education of children and young people and approximately SEK 8.6 million in other grants
